Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, I have established care with a QuadMed primary care provider

No. Your provider at a QuadMed health center can see you in-person and through virtual visits as long as you are in the same state at the time of your visit. QuadMed Everywhere doctors are unique because they are licensed in all 50 states. That means if you are traveling outside of your home state and have a health need, you can access a QuadMed Everywhere doctor for help. They will be able to see your medical record and your regular QuadMed primary care provider will be aware of the visit as well.

  • Traveling out of State: Due to state licensure restrictions for health care providers, your QuadMed primary care provider may not be able to help you with new medical concerns when you are traveling out of your home state. QuadMed Everywhere providers are licensed in all 50 states and can see patients from 8 am to 5 pm in any time zone, Monday through Friday.
  • Physician Choice: QuadMed Everywhere gives you additional options for establishing a primary care relationship. You may choose a primary care provider from your local health center or opt for any of the QuadMed Everywhere doctors.
  • Increased Access to Appointments: Sick visits often can’t be anticipated and scheduled in advance. Our QuadMed Everywhere doctors give patients additional access to same day visits if their primary care provider is not available.

Yes. After you schedule an appointment to establish care with the QuadMed Everywhere doctor of your choice, you can update the primary care provider information in your medical record or let the team know and we can update your chart for you.

You can call us 24/7. The QuadMed Everywhere care team will assess your symptoms and determine the right care plan tailored to your individual condition and needs. Depending on the severity of your symptoms, you may need an in-person appointment or evaluation in an Emergency Department. Our expert team will guide you through every step, making sure you get the care you need, exactly when you need it. Quad also offers LiveHealth Online for assistance with time-sensitive and/or new health concerns after hours.

Yes. All of our providers are part of the QuadMed team. Your medical records will be available to the care team whether you are having a health center or virtual visit. Your QuadMed Everywhere doctor can help coordinate your care whether at a QuadMed health center or resource in the community.

Due to state licensure restrictions for health care providers, your QuadMed primary care provider may not be able to help you with new medical concerns when you are traveling out of your home state. Your provider can counsel you on existing medical conditions you have, but new concerns may need to be supported by a provider licensed to practice in the state in which you are calling from. QuadMed Everywhere doctors are unique because they are licensed in all 50 states.

No, I have not yet established care with a QuadMed primary care provider

General Questions

  • QuadMed is a subsidiary of Quad; created in 1991 by Harry V. Quadracci, the founder of Quad/Graphics
  • Harry wanted to give his employees and their families access to better and most cost-effective care so he built a health center at his headquarters, hired a physician and the rest is QuadMed history
  • For 32 years, QuadMed has been meeting the health care needs of Quad employees through health centers located at some of the company’s largest plants. With QuadMed Everywhere, the same QuadMed care in now available everywhere.

Virtual care allows you to consult with a health care provider through video or phone calls instead of visiting a health center in person. This way, you can receive medical care conveniently and safely from the comfort of your own home.

Virtual care provides an alternative to in-person visits and offers:

  • More access and convenience
  • Reduced travel times and wait times
  • Reduced stress and risk of exposure to others who may be ill

QuadMed’s rigorous security program protects the confidentiality, integrity and availability of patient records whether visits occur in-person or virtually. Virtual visits are securely launched directly through our electronic medical record platform and the MyChart patient portal.

  • Continuity of care: Having a primary care provider allows you to establish a long-term relationship with a health care professional who can provide consistent and coordinated care for your ongoing health needs. This can lead to better health outcomes and help prevent chronic conditions from worsening.
  • Preventive care: A primary care provider can help you stay healthy by providing routine check-ups, screenings, and vaccinations. They can also help you manage chronic conditions and provide guidance on lifestyle changes to prevent future health problems.
  • Personalized care: Your primary care provider will get to know you and your medical history, allowing them to provide personalized care that takes into account your unique health needs, preferences, and goals.
  • Cost-effective care: Receiving preventive care helps detect and address health issues early on, potentially avoiding more expensive treatments later. It also promotes overall wellness, reducing the likelihood of developing chronic conditions that be costly to manage. Your primary care provider can also help coordinate care with specialists and other health care providers, which can help reduce unnecessary tests and procedures. Also, seeing a primary care provider can be less expensive than going to an urgent care or emergency room, where premium fees are typically required for immediate access.
  • Health education and advocacy: A primary care provider can educate you about your health and provide guidance on how to manage your conditions. They can also serve as an advocate for your health, helping you navigate the health care system and access the resources you need to stay healthy.
  • We are launching QuadMed Everywhere with the 18+ age requirement, but we will evaluate if we can lower the age at a later time.
  • Our top priority is ensuring our ability to provide the safest, highest quality to our patients.

Our care model is based on building relationships, not a series of transactions. QuadMed Everywhere is unique because it prioritizes care with your doctor, not just any doctor. You can schedule appointments with the same doctor every time – someone you have a personal relationship with and who knows your health history. You won’t be starting over from scratch with someone new at every visit. Best of all, your medical history is available to your QuadMed Everywhere doctor, so you won’t have to answer the same questions about your health history at every visit.

Virtual Primary Care Questions

  • Acute care for issues such as cold, flu, sinus infections, headaches, nausea, etc.
  • Primary and preventive care, including health screenings, lifestyle education, nutrition counseling, health history review and health risk assessment
  • Chronic condition support like diabetes, hypertension, allergies, asthma, obesity, and medication management

Yes, many of your health care needs can be met through a virtual visit with your provider. The QuadMed care model offers ample visit time so the provider can review your current health concerns, medical history, medications, and your health and wellness goals. If your doctor determines in-person care is needed, our team will help you locate the needed care and coordinate each step along the way.

  • Yes, QuadMed Everywhere can be especially helpful if you are traveling. Due to state licensure restrictions for health care providers, your primary care provider may not be able to help you with new medical concerns when you are traveling out of your home state. QuadMed Everywhere doctors are licensed in all 50 states and can see patients from 8 am to 5 pm in any time zone, Monday through Friday.
  • QuadMed Everywhere may also be of help if you are sick or have a time-sensitive need. Our QuadMed Everywhere doctors give patients additional access to same day visits if their primary care provider is not available.

A care coordinator on our QuadMed Everywhere team will help you find the care you need and manage each step in the process. Through our national partnership with Quest Labs, we can schedule appointments seamlessly for lab sites located in communities across the country.

Yes, in most cases. In some situations, depending on the medication, lab work may be required first.

QuadMed Everywhere doctors can prescribe non-controlled medications, such as antibiotics or high blood pressure pills. Controlled medications cannot be prescribed by QuadMed Everywhere doctors. This includes stimulant medications for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (Adderall/Vyvanse), benzodiazepines for anxiety (Xanax/Alprazolam), or certain medications for sleep or pain (Ambien/Opioids). Controlled medication prescriptions must be obtained from an in-person medical provider.

  • You are encouraged to schedule a free orientation session with a member of the QuadMed Everywhere care team before your first visit. We can help you create a MyChart account, show you how to use our system, and even help you schedule your first visit.
  • To make sure your virtual visit is successful, you’ll want to consider the following:
    • Ensure you are using a fast, reliable and password-protected internet connection
    • Ensure your device privacy settings allow access to your camera and microphone
    • Test your camera and microphone to make sure they are working and your volume is up
    • Sit in a well-lit, distraction-free, private location where you can discuss personal matters
    • Have the name and address of your local pharmacy handy in case a prescription is needed
    • Keep the QuadMed Everywhere phone number handy in case you need it for troubleshooting any issues — 800.888.8932

No. QuadMed Everywhere, and other virtual health programs, are NOT intended to handle medical emergencies. If someone is experiencing a medical emergency, they should call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
