The Mindset of Achievement
How will you shine this new year?
2021 is a new year with a new opportunity to set a new intention, rather than a big, life-changing resolution. An intention is something to come back to and something that keeps you focused, and it helps you to build a mindset of achievement. We must begin with a foundation of belief supported by change, not the promises of overnight magic or false beliefs.
Making a resolution means we are lacking in something and we will only be happy or fulfilled when we attain this “resolution.” Setting an intention doesn’t start from a place of lack. You intend to add it to your life. It’s more about the journey than the outcome and it’s about practicing self-compassion.
Many of us may have heard or struggle with inner thoughts that destroy follow through. This includes thoughts such as, “I don’t have the willpower,” or “I am doomed by my genes.” Let’s instill better beliefs and rid ourselves of old limitations. A compliant mindset lies in six perspective-shaping thoughts.
Replace the concept of willpower with discipline. Discipline is the understanding that everything is ok in moderation and gives you choices instead of the harsh, perfectionistic charge of self-control that defines willpower.
Do not underestimate the potential for lifestyle change to prevent or reverse health concerns. Do not let a label create a sense of powerlessness.
Your appetite is a wonderful thing. Natural hunger is not the enemy.
Relax and rest. Your new lifestyle is not about “all or nothing,” but finding an enjoyable balance.
It doesn’t need to take an hour. Challenge the body in a way that is novel and start with 15 minutes per day.
You have the power! We ALL have the power for change and there is nothing better than seeing positive outcomes from your inner drive and hard work.
Intention setting is a daily process. It is called a practice because it is an ever-renewing process. Being intentional allows you to remain present and align your commitments, activities and connections with an underlining sense of peace. As you become more intentional, you will find yourself reflecting on your day more often and will grow from a place of fulfillment, not lack.
Let 2021 bring health, strength and peace to you!
